As of yesterday, Romney had pulled even with Obama in the polls. Even? If I recall correctly, candidates get a pretty big bump in the polls immediately following their convention. If Romney is only even with Obama, I'm guessing his chances of success are remote. * * * * * * * Then again, with stories like these (Dems remove God from platform), maybe the Dems are trying to implode. * * * * * * * A different slant than Ephesians 5:25: 'Husbands, beat your wives so they will mend their ways,' Egyptian cleric advises. * * * * * * * Need a college degree to earn six figures? Not anymore. USA Today lists these no-degree lucrative jobs (and no, prostitution isn't among them). * * * * * * * A few years ago, I routinely peppered TDE with references to Russia's bizarre societal scene, with the admonition, "When the State takes over, society breaks down. Russia today is the result of 70 years of Communism." I might have to resurrect those references: "A Russian man wanted to see if his girlfriend really did love him to death - so he faked his own demise in a bizarre proposal." * * * * * * * Anyone here read Alternative Right? I guess I bookmarked it some time ago, but I don't remember it. This piece, The Whooping of the Tards, about the Republican National Convention is pretty good. It could've been great, but the writer was more concerned about using the f-word than creating great prose. Advice to the would-be great vulgar writer: Read Hunter Thompson. If you will use profanity, use it judiciously.
